This collaborative artwork, conceived during the YEMAA Center 2024 residency, explores the convergence of artificial intelligence, mythology, and cultural representation through playful and creative art practices. The installation features AI-generated water-inspired entities, born from the contributions of residency participants in a performative exercise.
Concept Elements
AI and Cultural Narratives: By incorporating diverse cultural myths and narratives into the AI's training data, the work challenges the perception of AI as a neutral tool.
It exposes inherent biases in these systems and invites viewers to contemplate AI's role in shaping our collective narrative and cultural exchange.
Transparency in AI Art: The artist deliberately chooses to feed underrepresented narratives and visuals into the AI, showcasing the transparency of the process used to generate these watery visions1. This approach demystifies AI, presenting it not as a magical black box, but as a tool that reflects and amplifies the data it's given.
Ancient Wisdom Meets Futuristic Visions: "Technological Shamans" creates a space where traditional knowledge intersects with cutting-edge technology, encouraging critical engagement with AI's influence on our perception of reality and cultural identity
